The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is the best and brightes and most-loved of all children’s books. The mysterious narrator describes the scene as a little mouse takes a stroll through a deep dark wood as he bumps one by one into various creatures, who think he looks like a tasty morsel and invite him to join them in their homes for "lunch...". The mouse politely declines, outwitting his foes by saying that he already has plans to have lunch with a scary Gruffalo.
