We will Play with a text or improvise a story.
Open yourself up to expression, play and invention.
Using a series of physical, emotional and mental exercises and games drawing on acting techniques and imagination including voice and physical expression, listening and empathetic response, commedia dell’Arte, clowning and performance, creative development and story telling; we will create a ‘play in a day’.
The participants will use acting techniques to put excellent speech into dynamic action.
The aim of the course “English through art” is to perfect students’ master of English language and pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary. The course is further intended to enrich the cultural and emotional understanding of students in relation to the best characters and images of English literature. The main focus is laid on ‘actioning’ and ‘sourcing’ in English – the study of texts at an emotional depth with the help of acting techniques. Psychologists maintain that the more our spectrum of emotions is engaged, the better we assimilate new words. This approach significantly enhances our ability to memorise texts, which after some practice flow freely, thereby also training our audio skills (the art of listening is vitally important to actors).
