In 2014 JDC – The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (Joint) celebrates its centennial anniversary. To mark the date, JDC has prepared the exhibition of rare and previously unpublished archive photos, which illustrate JDC’s long-term work all over the world.
The exhibition tells the stories of life in the beginning of the 20-th century. You’ll get acquainted with people, survived during the First World War and after the Revolution in 1917. You’ll see faces of pupils at Jewish schools in Crimea, disciples and educators of the Jewish orphanage in Malakhovka. You’ll find out about Argo-Joint project and the way Crimea was made the center of collective farms.
“All Jews are responsible for one another” – this quote from Talmud was the motto for those, who established JDC in 1914 and it is still the way, how JDC continues to operate in more than 70 countries around the world.
